About layers

Hi all,
I have a copule of question that I can´t find any answer in the help, hope somebody can enlighten me

1- For example, I make a new picture of 640 x 480 canvas size and then I draw a circle smaller than the canvas, this new vector layer size it have the size of that circle ( all ok so far) but now if I make a new layer, this new one adopt or take the size and the position of the layer beneath in this case the vector one, is there a way to make the new layers take the canvas size automatically or I have to type everytime the size and position?

2- if I convert a vector layer (which is smaller than the canvas) into a RGB layer, the only way to make this layer same size than the canvas is in changing layer size command? or we can use the crop tool to expland the layer.

is there a way to make the new layers take the canvas size automatically or I have to type everytime the size and position?

the dimensions are taken from the active layer, if you activate the background before adding a layer it will have the required max. size.

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for the tip, but when you have a lot of layers in a pain to scroll down select the background layer and create a new layer, I know the option of create new layers at top, but this is not so handy if you need to create a layer in between of many ones, so maybe we could have a wish that is in the dialog of Create Layer have an option: Use document size so this override the size and position of the active layer.
