Problem with an older version; changed HD

I have an older version of PL 32 (Ver 12.51) which suits me just fine for what I do.
Even so I use maybe 30% of its capabilities, mostly editing JPG's and GIF's, so I do not need to upgrade.

A while ago I suffered a disk crash which rendered my HD unbootable, but all my apps and data were intact. I added a new drive which became my C: drive then proceeded to mirror my old C: (now D:) to it. Naturally, all of my apps that used the registry had to be re-installed, including PL 32. It is now running, but after a few years being comfortable with how I configured the toolbars, etc, it is not the same old PL 32.
I have now a reasonably similar setup, but there is 1 major problem that is driving me nuts.

In my GIFs, when I lasso to copy, clip, paste or move, the edge is not crisp as the old one was. There is a 1-3 pixel soft edge even though the lasso soft edge is set to 0. Pixel mode is off. I have looked at every dialog and toolbar in PL (learned a lot too!) to solve this to no avail.
And when I place the lasso where I want it, it does not snap to the pixels as did the old PL. There is also a rectangular gray border with handles around the lasso that was not there before.

That soft edge and lack of snap which softens the edge even more drives up the colour count well above 256, where I have a standard custom pallet of about 45 colours. That renders my GIF unusable because I cannot deviate from that pallet.

If need be, I have no problem editing the registry, if I know what to edit. I may still be able to access the old registry, and the old install directories are still intact.

Any ideas???

Maybe it's the Antialias-Checkbox/button in the tool-settings of the lasso? But I'm not sure if it was already available in the 12.51.

That was a good suggestion, alas, it was not so. There is no anti-alias in lasso, but there is one in the "View". However that had no effect when set to Never, and defaulted back to Always when I did another lasso.
