PL 17 - Remove Brush a great new tool

The Remove Brush is a great new tool for correcting blemishes or for restoring old photographs. It works in an intelligent way to repair blemishes, requiring the click of a mouse button, or to eliminate scratches, requiring holding down the mouse button and moving along a line.

PL was not the first to add this kind of tool. I do a lot of scanning and restoration of old photographs for genealogy work. I've tested similar tools in competitive software in the same price range, and I believe PhotoLine's Remove Brush is the best.

There is "competitive software" in the same price range, Bob? Might be on Windows but on Mac there's really isn't. The only things I know are Photoshop, which isn't in anywhere near the same price range, and Graphic Converter, which I know some friends of mine use for some image editing -- one of them has it along with PL. I don't know what it does thdse days. I abandonned pursuit of it quite some yers ago, finding it confusing and unhelpful. Other programs written specifically for Mac, such as Pixelmator, are so far behind PL that they can't really be considered "competitive". They look pretty, though 9althohgh I could never work with Pixelmator given its black screen environment which I find unfreindly.

GraphicConverter definitely isn't in the same league – it doesn't have layers (only very basic text layers, to be fair), doesn't have vector tools, doesn't have 16 bit colour depth. PSE and GIMP are the only real competitors to PL on the Mac, imo, and neither can do real 16 bit colour depth.

The "Remove Brush" is a version of the previous contextually sensitive Repair brush, is it not? I know I had some problems with that brush.

No, afaik it's basically "Remove Object" without additional options, just that you don't use the lasso but a brush to designate the area to be replaced. (In any case, that's what I suggested a while ago, and as far as I can see, it behaves in the same way – it even has the "Retry" button like "Remove Objects".)
