Font weight when switching typefaces

Just discovered this while setting some type:

1. Add a text layer with a font which has a bold weight -- make sure the "B" (bold) selection is active.

2. Create a new text layer and switch to a font which has no bold weight. You should see a pseudo-bold version of the font. In my case, BT Bodoni Book appeared slightly heavier than it should have, but the "B" (bold) button was inactive.

3. To fix: switch back to the font which has a bold weight so that the "B" button becomes active again. Deselect "B" and switch back to the no-bold font... All should be well.

This isn't a huge problem, but I thought the developers should be aware.

You are on Mac OS, right?

I can't reproduce this here. I don't have "BT Bodoni Book", but I tried it with Monaco, Silom and Apple Chancery.
The button "b" stays active (and is disabled) after switching to one of these fonts, but it has no effect on the weight of the font.

Can you reproduce this problem with a font, that is freely available (or preinstalled)?

Sorry, I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. I just reproduced it using Arial Bold and then Plantagenet.
