Autosttch panorama maker - complement for PL?

Hello people

A couple of people on DPReview have been talking about Autostitch for making panoramas. Could be a useful complement for PL it seemed to me. Windows only, I'm afraid, so I miss out!

Nice overview. I don't do panos very often, but Hugin is free and open source, has a good reputation and works under Mac OS X and Win. Autostitch seems to be just a demo version.

For Windows users Microsoft ICE is great. 32 and 64- bit versions available. Unsupported, but free.

I actually use a (paid for) version of PTGui or an older program, Calico 2, on Mac, on the comparatively rare but nevertheless important occasions when I need a panorama. PTGui is very highly credentialed and I used the demo successfully, but the last time I used it -- after buying it -- I had a real battle to get the result I wanted. Odd.

I raised Autostitch here only because, as I said, I saw it positively mentioned elsewhere.

I've seen lots of work done with ICE, Bob -- excellent results. Why on earth doesn't MS support it? Amazing.
