hello folks
I have a problem. I'm working away on Lucy the model's eyes again and doing it BETTER this time thanks to the input from this forum.
BUT -- when I have made a vector shape on the photo and gone to Tool>Lasso looking for "Convert Layer to Lasso" -- I find that command is inverted to "Convert Lasso to Layer"!!!
And it won’t change. I've already one one eye, now I want to do the second, but can't. Iv'e tried other vectors on this file and they all come up with the "Convert Lasso to Layer" command, even though they are clearly Layers (as you can see in the attached screen shot).
In new files, the same action results in the correct command "Convert Layer to Lasso".
Does anyone have a clue about what's going on here and how I can fix it?
Best regards
Geoff

Re: Problem: Layer>Lasso; Lasso>Layer
Solved the problem. I clicked on "Convert Lasso to Layer" and that created another vector layer, then when I selected that, PL offered me "Convert Layer to Lasso", so I did, deleted the original vector layer which PL seemed to think was a lasso, and away I went.
BUT -- while PL offered me the correct command in the second vector layer, why didn’t it do that when I drew another vector which created a new vector layer?
Bug?
Cheers, geoff

True, I've stumbled across that one before …greenmorpher hat geschrieben:BUT -- while PL offered me the correct command in the second vector layer, why didn’t it do that when I drew another vector which created a new vector layer?
Afaik, the rule is: Whenever there is a selection (lasso, mask), the menu command is "Convert Lasso to Layer". If there is no selection and the active layer is a vector layer, it becomes "Convert Layer to Lasso". (If there's no selection and no active vector mask, the menu entry is inactive.) The manual doesn't say anything about this, nor does it mention that both commands share the same menu entry.
In your case, there probably was both a selection and and an active vector layer, so PL offered "Convert Lasso to Layer" although also "Convert Layer to Lasso" would have made sense, too. To use "Convert Layer to Lasso", you could have used Edit -> Deselect, but when you used "Convert Lasso to Layer", this also removed the lasso.
So while this is not a bug, I think that it would improve the user interface to have both commands in the menu all the time (dimmed when not applicable), and preferably two additional commands "Create Lasso from Layer" and "Create Layer from Lasso" which don't delete the vector layer or the Lasso, respectively.
Cheers
Burkhard.

Re: Problem: Layer>Lasso; Lasso>Layer
Ah, burkhardt, well explained. I knew they flipped, but I didn’t know I had a selection already. Tricky stuff. I must have made a selection somehow getting my fingers muddled up on the touch pad which I was using at the time (I mostly use a mouse and prefer to do so because of the stuff I accidentally move, delete, or whatever due to the over-sensitivity of the touch pad. Used to be able to set that in system prefs, but no longer).
Many thanks.
