srgb and linear color space

Beitrag von JPWestmas »

hi, I've been having some trouble understanding how PL handles 32 bpc .exr files. I saved my exr as a .pld file to save the layers and all that I created in PL. When I change one layer to 8 bit mode the entire image goes into a darker color space which I presume is linear color space. Then when I save and open the file again the brighter gamma comes back, which I find to be strange. Is there something I need to be aware of here. Can I turn the srgb color space on and off in PL? What is the workflow for handling 32-bit editing/painting etc.

I can't reproduce that problem. After loading an EXR file with two layers, I get a document with linear sRGB color space (sRGB is my default RGB color space and EXR files are usually linear). I saved that document as PLD file, but I can change the bit depth of both layers and I don't see any change of the brightness.

What steps are you doing exactly? Do you have a small sample file which can be used to reproduce the problem?
