Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
Does it integrate as it is supposed to do with Photoshop?
Does it do anything useful compared with what PL does?
Cheers, geoff

I don't know the program, but as I understand, it is a RAW-converter. How do you develop your RAW images at the moment?

Geoff, I have Photo Ninja but have no personal experience with the PN Photoshop plugin ability to refer to the original raw file when used for edit of TIFs.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:Does it integrate as it is supposed to do with Photoshop?

Photo Ninja is not for everyone. It is a raw editor only and is expensive. The target market: professional photographers, although I suspect I may not be the only enthusiast photographer working with Photo Ninja.
I use PN for problem images, and it works well with PhotoLine. I have PL set to call PN through the external editor setup, although my workflow would normally be running PN from my default browser/digital asset manager and then open the converted file in PhotoLine.
For me, PN is just another tool to use with PhotoLine. Its ability to "recover" blown highlights is second to none in my opinion. Noise reduction at high ISO is excellent, and its out-of-the-box rendering of raw Olympus camera images is much better than PhotoLine due to its color conversion engine and sophisticated algorithms to accommodate specific camera sensors and lens combinations.
But from my perspective, PN is a raw converter. PL is an editor. I need both.

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
I was asking because:
a) I don’t use RAW and won't. I will stick to JPEG thanks!
BUT
b) I used to use Noise Ninja when it was a plug-in on ts own, in Canvas, with exceptionally good results.
Looks as though Noise Ninja is now available only as part of Photo Ninja -- most functions of which hold no interest for me.
Sad.

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
Geoff, if you're looking for a substitute for Noise Ninja, take a look at Topaz DeNoise. There's a 30-day free trial period. Be sure to review the YouTube videos because best results often come from adjustments in addition to the presets. DeNoise works very will with PhotoLine.greenmorpher hat geschrieben: I used to use Noise Ninja when it was a plug-in on ts own...

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
+1 from me.
Since I tried all denoise plugins, Topaz denoise is far best in result. But have 2 serious problems.
> Extremly expensive (80 USD ?!)
> Extremly slow (nearly 10 times slower than neat image, ninjas, noisewares etc. competitors.)
Anyway, since plugin developers still pushing on high prices, I'l solving noise problems with averaging. Much more better results but taking about 3 - 5 minutes per photo. I tried Noise Ninja also, was working stable but results no. And it takes time to set parameters also. You can get same results under photoline also.
Nearly all succesful denoise apps sticked on a 80 in price. Like they agreed between each other :)
Anyone looking for something cheap and easy to use, there is perfectum in redfields plugins.
Here are examples http://www.redfieldplugins.com/filterPerfectum.htm
Good side is nearly 0 configration. Good for fast processing needs. It creates miracles in smooth surfaces and edges. Bad side is eating up too crispy details. Means check if it matches your needs. Price is far better, 40 USD. Me? Didn't buy. I need something with the power of topaz. Others I already can do.
under http://www.colormancer.com there is a 32bit plugin for noise reduction, freeware. Under photoline you can get better results with a few effort but this plugin works extremly fast and good for mass denoise needs.
And the surprise of the day.
There is a forensic image analysis plugin producer. Product is ClearID. One of my friend told me that they have something shocking. Under their package there is a 8bf file "Ultimate Sharpener". I never saw something as powerful as this in my life. I don't know how they coded it but even no configration. Just a slider. Result is sharp and crispy edges without halo. And even in high sharpen attempts, there is no plastic like effects in natural scenes or noise in smooth areas. I tried (maybe all) contrast / sharpen apps also. Didn't see something like this. Now I'm in trial period and what I do is simply process images with gaussianblur and than pass to this plugin. Sounds stupid but it somehow recovers. Not better than averaging but works. Also tried topazdenoise + this plugin results to nearly superresolution like image.
Bad part is this plugin only have 32bit option. And they don't give price. You must to fill a form and demand price. I didn't because it should be too expensive like other forensic packages. And even for trial version, you fill another form. But worths to try. I tried just for curiosity after my friends comments.
Well want to offer something freeware also in this category. Under http://www.unicontel.com you will find EdgeCrement plugin. Gives good results on edges. At least far better than unsharpmask. And yes, another 32bit plugin :(
Anyway, hope to be useful for anyone.
All bests

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
1. Photo Ninja is the replacement of Noise Ninja. This was a noise reduction program only. You can use Photo Ninja with jpg`s without problems. I use it as an external editor, because the plugin crashed with PL. But the plugin is recommend for PS as written at the homepage.
2- Topaz Denoise works very well as plugin for PL (as any Topaz programs). Look frequent at the homepage if you want to buy. There are special offers from time to time.
Hope it helped a litlle.

Similar fourier deblurring is used.

For sharpening I use PL's built-in capability backed up by Focus Magic (out of focus and moton blur) http://www.focusmagic.com. 64 bit, and there is a earlier 32 bit available.

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
Oh my god. When I clicked on your link, the examples excited me too much. I was even telling that detecting that much blur is miracle how can it etc. To be sure about capabilities, I downloaded trial instead of free one and start... But after disappointment. Actually it's a great software. It does it's job. But it has the same problem like others have. Using extreme samples to promote. I downloaded original samples on their site and tried. Yes it does. But when you gave it your own sample, it fixes but you see that it can not create miracles.Herbert123 hat geschrieben:You might also want to check out http://smartdeblur.net/

By the way I loved adverts of focusmagic (also). But not using the software at all. They acted modest and did not use anything extreme in their site. And sure it can not create miracles also :)
Me do the same. After a trial or test, report incompatibilities also. Just to make people in realize of pl.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:By the way, I have asked them to include PhotoLine in their list of applications with which Focus Magic is compatible.

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
There are no miracles in photography, evren, but solid software like Focus Magic can do a lot of help improve a poor result when you really, really have to have the image and have failed to capture it properly -- i.e. in focus and without camera shake.

Re: Has anyone used PhotoNinja with PL?
Topaz filters are much cheaper bought in the bundle or collection. Because I had the bundle, I can upgrade to the collection, which adds four more filters, for 99USD
