PlugIns

Beitrag von 5ar5renko »

Can anybody tell how many plugins from this vendors list are already implemented into PhotoLine:

Nik Software
Alien Skin
Imagenomic
Topaz
Auto FX
Photo Zoom
Perfect Photo
Photomatix
Vertus

and is it possible the rest of them (missing plugins) to be added into PL just to avoid plugins that do not work, make problems, etc?

I use Nik Software, Imagenomic, Topaz, Perfect Photo Suite 7.5 and PTlens with PhotoLine
Gruss Christopher

IMatch zur Bilderverwaltung, Capture One und DxO PhotoLab
als RAW-Converter und PhotoLine (x64) zur Bildbearbeitung.
Es geht auch sehr gut ohne Abobe Produkte und Adobe's Abomodell.

Virtually all of the standard 8bf plugins will run under PhotoLine. The others, if they also have standalone applications, should run under PhotoLine's relatively new Extended Filters feature.

My idea is if any of those plugins that are not part of PL source code, to be added to PL, therefore not to use any external plugins. This way, any incompatibilities with any external plugin will be avoided.

Ugh. No way. Just use the plugins as intended -- that's the way all plugin authors and image editing applications do it, and for very good reasons.

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done....

As far as I know PL does not depend 'from' plugins, not even 'on' them. Who told you it does ?

OK, better explained, why should we depend of external plugins if PL supports all these stuff? No compatibility issues, no crashes...

In a perfect world the perfect image editor exists - but in the real world it is impossible for an image editor to include all the functionality available in external plugins. Even Adobe cannot and will not implement every possible feature that is offered by plugins. And how are you going to develop/integrate plugins from external developers without access to their knowledge/code base? And what about copyright/licensing issues?

And many plugins are useful only to a subset of users, not to all users. How will you decide which plugins should be included, and which to exclude? Besides, it would make PL the most bloated application in the world ;-P

So many more reasons why the plugin system is a good solution.

What do you want to say? PL developers have payed to Adobe for doing the same job as PS? They have a lot of functions (not code) for doing the same thing and in the same manner they can implement, maybe not all, but most of external plugins into PL. As they did with Filters, Effects, some Adjustment layers and so on.
You do not have to be a programer, as I am also, to understand that same thing can be done in different ways. So what is the problem here? Or beter say is there any problem here? PL developers have to have a good will just to do it. It is up to them.
