Hello All:
Need a little help with printing... For example, I have an image from my Canon 5D II that's 5251 x 3753 pixels. I go into Page Setup to set the page parameters: paper size (Super A3, in this example), portrait orientation, etc. Then, I go into Print Options. This dialog looks pretty powerful in that I can drag the green handles to size the image in the printable area, position the image as needed, etc. I see that the zoom level changes as I re-size the image; 92% zoom for my final size and positioning. All that's fine. However, how do I know what PPI the image will print at? From past experience printing many 13 x 19 pictures from my 5D, I know that at this size my print resolution is roughly 328 PPI. Given that the native resolution of an Epson printer is 360 PPI, will PL interpolate up/down to print at native resolution? Or, does it simply pass the data to the printer driver and let it interpolate to 360 PPI?
Thanks for any insight provided. I have found this board to be an invaluable resource of information. Oh, and I did read the printing chapter in the manual which didn't answer my questions.

Never mind...I think I found the answer; unless someone has a better way of determining print resolution?
There is a resolution parameter in layer properties whereby I can set the file resolution to 360 PPI which is the native print resolution of Epson printers. Then, when I go into the Print Options dialog--with page size set to 13 x 19 and zoom level at 100%--the image size relative to the printable area of the paper size is exactly what I expect it to be. Beautiful! I probably won't use PL for most of my printing (I prefer LR for this since once a preset is established it's pretty much a 1-click deal), but it's nice to know that I can get what I want, if needed.

Thanks, Alan, that helps me a little, I hope.
I have to admit I was hoping for a bunch of people jumping in to talk about this because I find printing from PL confusing at best on my HP Officer jet 6000.
The print quality is fine but getting the size and position of the image right is something else entirely.

I don't think I have printed from any image editor since I last tried it with Photoshop 1.0. Might have been the 2.0 version...And I don't know when the last time was I even bothered to PDF something from an image editor. Though I read the thread when there was only the opening post, I have zero experience printing from PL.
Other than once in a blue moon, I don't print from any application that originates what I do/make. I output a PDF, review it, and if all is fine, print from Acrobat. Everything I do in PL is an image, gets saved as an image of one sort or another, then placed/imported into something else.

Hey, if something I said helps you a little...GREAT! I have read several of your posts as I've searched this board for answers to my questions and have gotten a few tips from you, too. Yeah, printing from PL had me stumped there for a bit; mostly the Print Options menu item had me confused. It seemed like a very basic RIP style interface, but I felt that grabbing the green handles to resize my image most certainly would cause some sort of image resampling which I try to avoid whenever possible. Once I discovered how to set the PPI of my image which allowed me to maintain 100% zoom level (that is, no interpolation) all that was required was to go into Print Options to position the image on the page. As I said, I probably won't be printing much from PL, but it's nice to know that I can get what I need if I want it.

I printed directly from Photoshop for many years until I got Lightroom and discovered that once a print preset is established all one has to do is click on the preset, and then click "Print One". Done! I now have a hot folder setup such that once I finish editing an image, I save a flattened TIFF file to this folder which is automatically imported into LR. From there I print. Therefore, I don't intend to use PL much for printing, but if I need something out fast I now know how to get it!
