Layer Crop Size Question ?

Beitrag von kevjon »

Hi

I have a photoshop document that is 4096 x 4096 px with many layers.

When I import the document into Photoline it crops each layer to the extents of the data on that layer so some layers for example are 3965px x 2367px.

Is there a way to make the cropped layers match the document size and have the extents of that layer centred on the document ?

When I try the layer resize and set it to 4096 x 4096 it ends up not centred on the document.

I hope what I am asking makes sense.

I've solved this by creating a new layer under the layer with the wrong size and merging it down.

If there is a better way to do this on import or within PL's interface then let me know.

For image layers, use Layout...Image...Bring to Document Size. That will expand the edges of the layer to match the document size without moving the layer's content.

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done....

Glad to help.

You can also automate the procedure somewhat by recording your steps as an "action". You'd first use Layer...Management...Mark All Layers, then use Layer...Image...Bring to Document Size. Save the action and use it on a PSD file you open.

Its a good suggestion, I think I'll do that as it will save time when importing my old PSD files.

One of the cool things about actions is that they can be used in PL's Batch Conversion function. I sure as hell don't know if that action will do what we're expecting if applied as a batch conversion, but you can be the guinea pig for that....

Obviously, don't do the test on your "real" PSD files, but use a few expendable sample ones.

Thanks Ken

My PSD files usually only contain 10 or so layers that need to made to document size so it isn't to much trouble to work through them 1 by 1 or recording an action.
