Perfect Effect plugins? PL debug log?

Hi folks,

Perfect Effects is giving their plugins away for free, so, of course, I tried them in PL. They do not seem to register. Can I ask for a simple feature request, if it doesn't already exist? Can I have a debug log file of what PL does when it starts up? That way, I can see that it is considering a plugin, and discarding it, instead of silently moving on with no indication that it didn't do anything. If there is a command line parameter, or something I can put into a PL config file to get this log file, it would help when debugging new extensions...

Sorry, I seem to have insulted you somehow. It was certainly not my intention. A log file is sometimes useful; I thought you might have the facility already for your own debugging.

If you read its Help file, you'll see that:

• It's only compatible with the newest versions of Photoshop, Lightroom and Photoshop Elements.
• It will only install as a plugin if it finds those programs.
• The Free edition will not work as a PS plugin -- you have to contact their product support to obtain the "Premium" version of the Free edition.
• It can never work in PhotoLine as a plugin, because it is found under the PS (and PSE) "Automate" menu -- this is the launching area for JavaScript programs in PS (and PSE).
• Its other access point for the plugin is a PS-specific "Extensions" window, so that's impossible in PL.

I think Gerhard installed those "Perfect Effects" for testing, and found out afterwards that it junks up the system somewhat. He sounds a bit frustrated, so that might explain his direct tone. Generally he is a very nice guy, and very supportive . Don't take it personally. His frustration is aimed at Perfect Effects. Everyone experiences bad days.

Opinions about Perfect Effects vary quite a bit: some have had bad ones, others are very happy using it.

Aside from all this, you can download and install it, get your free serial number (I think?), and use Photoline's app link to connect to the stand-alone application for editing. Or by saving images and opening them in Perfect Effects.
