Hello All,
Since there seems to be some questions/concerns with regard to possible rights violation with Experiment 06, I dug around my own images and found something similar for anyone interested in playing around with it. It's nothing special...just a snap I took several years ago on a Pink Jeep tour in Sedona, AZ.
My goal with this image was to reveal separation and texture in the similar hue/brightness color values of the red rock. I, also, wanted the sky to be somewhat dark along with nice deep gray values and texture in the vegetation throughout the image. My layer stack consisted of the 4 basic layers I've discussed previously for the B&W conversion. Again, I used the Hue Editor set to the RGB color model with Saturation set to 0 and a custom Brightness curve to modify tonality. Finishing touches were a Curve layer to adjust global contrast, a slight vignette, and a bit of USM sharpening.
Since the forum software restricts us to such small files, I have uploaded the base color image for your own experiments and my initial result to DropBox. I hope these links work...never done this before. Let me know if any issues.

My initial conversion result: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2blilcjh8jt6 ... a.jpg?dl=0
Kind regards,
Alan

Thanks for making your image available. But, with all due respect, you're too good of a photographer!
Your B&W conversion is impressive. I've got a couple of ideas about value ranges in a couple of areas that I'll take a look at later.

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done....
Just take everything out on Highway 61.

Here's my version. I've tried to maintain the warm look of the cliffs and the contrast between rocks and vegetation.
The enclosed pld doesn't contain the original image (would be too large), just add it above the bottom layer.
