Req: "Perfect" line pattern for shapes

Beitrag von photoken »

The biggest problem with using line patterns is that we cannot get a "perfect" result when applying the pattern to shapes:

In the ellipse example, the start and end points destroy the pattern.

In the rectangle example, the corners are bad.

We need a "perfect" option for line patterns which will:
  • Reduce each gap so the pattern of strokes is consistent along curved shapes.
  • Reduce each gap so the pattern of strokes form perfect and solid corners on polygonal shapes.

Illustrator offers an additional option "align dashes to corners and path ends". This would be a good addition for Photoline as well.

In addition, I do not understand why we cannot combine variable stroke thickness with dashed lines.

Yes. After all, we're well into the 21st century, and by now computer programs ought to make it easy to achieve "perfect" patterned lines for shapes.
