Sure. Just follow his steps. "Stamp Visible" is Photoshop talk for duplicating the layers.

Hmm, ok, thanks, I'll give it a try. "Stamp Visible" is just about as obvious as "lasso" is in PhotoLine.

I'm not sure what "Surface Blur" is. "Adaptive Soften" might be the closest approximation in PL (at least it works well for strong sharpening when one wants to avoid halos).

I use non destructive high pass layers (with overlay or soft light mode) for this - is there any advantage?

OMG, I stopped at the title! Do you know how many "Best ways to sharpen your images" I've read over the past 16 years?
The best way is to experiment with several techniques and settle on YOUR best way! IMO folks in the digital age are too occupied with sharp images. YMMV, of course.
