Misbehavior of Color Gradient tool when recorded in an action
1. Duplicate Background
2. Apply Gaussian Blur to New Layer
3. Create Layer Mask for the New Layer (Mask Layer is automatically selected)
4. Select Color Gradient tool
5. Selection Tool Settings for Color Gradient tool: 100% Intensity; Gray Channels; Normal Mode; Circle Pattern
6. In the image work space, draw a line from center of area to be in-focus to a point outside that area, adjust Black and White points on line and finalize length of line
7. Select the New Layer with the Mask and apply Reduce to One Layer
When these steps are followed in real time, the Layers panel contains two layers: 1) the copy of the background (blurred) with a circle transparency and 2) the original background.
When these steps are recorded in an Action, the Layers panel contains two layers: 1) the mask (white with black circle) and 2) the original background. For some reason the mask layer is replacing the image layer to which it is attached.
