Congratulations: This software is amazing.

It covers so many areas and so well.
The smart guides are super useful. It is handling a 15.000px x 12000 px painting canvas with very large brushes in my computer (heavily undervolted Ryzen 3900X, 32GB, GTX 1650 4gb) like if it was nothing, like if I was painting at 300x200. Apart from the two issues I mentioned in my other thread, I believe this app is absolutely perfect for no-nonsense, practical illustrators/game/comic artists like me. Besides a work horse for anything graphic.

Yes, brushes are fast but they are 8 bit only.

As much as I have painted quite many years digitally, there's always going to be stuff that I don't know... I don't fully understand what does it mean, '8bit brushes'. That the pattern/texture of the brush is made as a 8 bit image, so, less smooth gradients than if it were 16 bits ?

I painted quite the other day in Photoline demo, testing painting smooth gradients, spheres, glazing technique, etc, the typical thing, and it did seem to me that actually the brush was smoother than in other apps I have been using lately (maybe most have the same issue and then I'm used to it...).
I mean, I was not able to notice anything bad for my paintings.

It was discussed earlier here viewtopic.php?p=49569#p49569 Overall if you don't need to draw with huge sized brushes that use perfect smooth gradients, and don't need further heavy color correction - 8 bit is more-less enough. Another 8 bit limitation - visible artifacts if you paint in linear gamma document. Layer styles are also 8 bit only yet.

P.S. If you migrated from Photoshop, you can check my PhotoLine UI Icons Customization Project https://www.deviantart.com/shijan/art/825902404

I see... Well my main tool currently (but it lacks the very needed features that Photoline has, you can't even snap to a document border, to put an example. True that it has the best brush engine among many apps) is Clip Studio Paint, which I believe is 8 bit for everything, that's why maybe I don't notice it that much. I worked with Photoshop in every single company I was at, for decades. But mostly all the years except the very latest, they'd put me at a PC which wouldn't handle well very big files with 50 -100 layers in 16 (let alone 32) bits mode. I'd create those sometimes when I needed smoother transitions for something special, or avoid clipping and other problems for certain operations. But no idea if my brushes were 16 bits or not, back then. But yep, I'd agree that in general 16 bits gives a lot of more quality and "room" to avoid banding.
