I first noticed this just the other day in 18.01; it continues in 18.51. (I don't use this tool much, but when I do, I really want it to work! Actually, I should use it more often; I keep forgetting it is there.
I have a logo on a white background saved as a JPEG.
I want the background transparent.
So I apply the Autotransparency tool to the while background, set to "Fill Holes", set to less than 10% tolerance (as low as zero in my experiments).
I get transparency all right -- but far too much of it. Most of the logo disappears. it is shown here on white, but that is because I saved it as JPEG. I get transparency all right, but as you can see, most of the logo is lost.
Unchecking "Fill holes" gives me the transparency I want except that I have to shift-click in the bowls of the letters to make them transparent too.
But -- something is wrong!
Anyone else had odd experiences with this tool?
I am on Mac OS X.6.8.
Cheers, geoff
